Employers: Six Immigration offenders detained in Cheshire

Six people have been arrested on suspicion of immigration offences following a series of UK Border Agency operations across Cheshire on 27 February.

Acting on intelligence, officers from the UK Border Agency targeted two businesses and carried out checks on staff to see if they were legally entitled to work in the UK.

Employers: Five illegal workers arrested in Aberdeen

Two shops in Aberdeen have been found employing five illegal workers following a UK Border Agency operation.

Acting on intelligence officers targeted two shops, Discount Stores and American Candy Co, on Union Street, Aberdeen, on 28 February.

After checking the immigration statuses of staff, officers discovered five Pakistani men, aged 23 to 28, who were working illegally. Two of the men were arrested in the American Candy Co and the other three in the Discount Store. It is believed that the men worked between both shops and live...

Applicants: Revisions to the codes of practice for skilled migrant workers

01 March 2013

Today, the UK Border Agency is publishing a statement of intent, to help employers prepare for changes to the points-based system.

The statement announces changes to the codes of practice for skilled migrant workers from outside the European Economic Area. These will come into effect on 6 April 2013 and will also affect the timing of the applications for restricted certificates of sponsorship in March and April. The changes include:

Applicants: Renewal of the temporary concession in the Immigration Rules for Syrians

28 February 2013

From 28 February 2013, the temporary concession for Syrian nationals will be renewed for a further year, until 28 February 2014. Syrian nationals with temporary permission to stay in the UK will continue to have more ways to extend their stay in the UK.

If you are a Syrian national and your permission to stay in the UK (leave to remain) is about to expire, or has expired in the last 28 days, and you wish to stay in the UK there are now some new options available to you.

Employers: Four immigration offenders caught at a Walderslade restaurant in Kent

27 February 2013

Following a UK Border Agency raid, 4 men from Bangladesh, have been caught working illegally at a restaurant in Walderslade, Kent.

Acting on intelligence received, officers visited Taj Cuisine, Walderslade Road, on Saturday 23 February.

Checks on the staff working there found that 2 of the men aged 31 and 41 had entered the UK illegally, while a 30-year-old was working in breach of his visa conditions.

All 3 were arrested and remain in immigration detention pending their removal from the UK.
