Employers: Tier 2 certificates of sponsorship allocations for 2012/13

We are currently experiencing high volumes of requests from sponsors who have applied to renew their allocation of Certificates of Sponsorship (CoS) for 2012-13. Processing time for requests has increased and you may experience a short delay in receiving your new allocation. We are working to keep delays to a minimum. Our aim is to have the majority of allocation requests, submitted before 6 April 2012, concluded by Friday 4 May 2012.

Employers: Online applications unavailable on Saturday 21 April

Our online applications in the UK will be unavailable from 16:00 on Saturday 21 April until 10:00 on Sunday 22 April.

This is to allow us to carry out essential maintenance.

During this time the following systems will be unavailable:

  • Online points calculator
  • Online appointment booking in the UK
  • Sponsorship management system
  • Sponsorship application

Applicants: Visa application fees change on 6 April 2012

The previously announced fee increase for some overseas visa fees, and UK-based visa application fees, will take effect from 00:01 (UK time) on Friday 6 April 2012.

Applicants: Changes to the Immigration Rules come into effect on 6 April 2012

As previously announced, a number of changes to the Immigration Rules are coming into effect on 6 April.

These include changes for migrants coming to the UK under the following routes of the points-based system:

  • Tier 1 - high-value migrants.
  • Tier 2 - skilled workers, including: new arrangements for students switching into Tier 2 and confirmation that the limit for non-EU skilled workers allowed into the UK will remain at 20,700 for the next 2 years.

Rules have been laid in parliament confirming changes to Tier 2 of the points based system.
