Employers: Ten arrested in south London immigration raids

Ten immigration offenders have been arrested following a crackdown on illegal working in Croydon and South Norwood.

Acting on intelligence, ourimmigration enforcement officers visited three shops on London Road, Croydon, on Thursday 9 May 2013. Individuals were questioned to check if they had the right to be in the UK.

Employers: MAC publishes seasonal migrant workers report

British farmers should be able to recruit a sufficient number of seasonal workers in the first one to two years after working restrictions on Bulgarian and Romanian nationals are lifted, according to evidence gathered by the Migration Advisory Committee (MAC).

But in its latest report, the government's independent advisory body on migration issues found the horticultural sector could face a lack of available seasonal migrant labour in the medium to long term.

Employers: Three arrested following raid in Hampshire

Three illegal workers from Bangladesh have been arrested following a raid on a restaurant in Holbury.

Acting on intelligence, our Home Office Immigration Enforcement officers visited Aroma Indian Cuisine, Long Lane, at around 17:00 on Thursday 2 May, questioning staff to check if they had the right to work in the UK.

A 29-year-old man was found to have entered the country illegally while 2 other men aged 39 and 40 had overstayed their visas.

Employers: Feltham identity fraudster jailed

A Feltham man who used a false identity to try and get a British passport has been jailed, following an investigation by our Home Office Immigration Enforcement officers.

Md Ziaur Rahman, 33-year-old, had originally come to the UK legally on a work permit in 2004.

Our Immigration Enforcement investigators were alerted when he applied for a British passport using the assumed name of Sadique Miah.

Employers: Illegal Worker arrested in Aylesbury immigration raid

An illegal worker has been arrested and a restaurant is facing a fine following an immigration raid in Aylesbury.

Acting on intelligence, our Home Office Immigration Enforcement officers visited Roosters Piri Piri on Cambridge Street at around 14:30 on Tuesday 30 April, where they carried out immigration checks on staff working there.

A 21-year-old Pakistani man was arrested after he was found to have overstayed his visa. He has been detained pending his removal from the UK.
