You can use our online services to:

  • extend your visa under Tier 2, Tier 4 and Tier 5 of the points-based system;
  • book an appointment at a public enquiry office;
  • tell us about your change of address;
  • request the return of your documents if urgently needed; and
  • report immigration crime.

Form: Application for UK visa under Tier 4 (General): form VAF9 appendix 8

Updated: Updated guidance.

Use these documents if you are applying under Tier 4 (General) with ‘Form VAF9’. This form is for people who are outside the UK and need to use an application form, rather than applying online.

‘Appendix 8’ is the extra form to send with VAF9. You should read the policy guidance, as well as the ‘Guide to supporting documents’ on this page, which is available in English and simplified Chinese.

Applicants: Online appointment bookings in UK unavailable on 26 and 29 October and our 'apply online' service on 31 October

Our online service to book appointments in the UK will be unavailable between 18:00 to 21:30 on Friday 26 October 2012, 19:30 to 22:00 on Monday 29 October 2012 and our 'apply online' service for applicants in the UK will be unavailable between 19:00 to 22:15 on 31 October 2012 while we carry out essential maintenance.

Applicants in the UK using our online service to book appointments, will not be able to book appointments online when it is unavailable.

Applicants: Temporary concession for Syrians under the Immigration Rules

17 October 2012

From 15 October 2012 Syrian nationals with temporary permission to stay in the UK will have more ways to extend their stay in the UK.

If you are a Syrian national and your permission to stay in the UK (leave to remain) is about to expire, or has expired in the last 28 days, and you wish to stay in the UK there are now some new options available to you. This concession applies only until 15 March 2013.

Applicants: Changes to the Immigration Rules come into effect today

As previously announced, a number of changes to the Immigration Rules are coming into effect today.

New Rules now apply for extending your visa

If you are applying to extend your visa under the points-based system, all working and student routes, visiting routes, long residency routes and discharged HM Forces and UK ancestry routes, new rules will now apply.
